Six out of 22 members of President Donald Trump’s cabinet have been revealed to own Bitcoin or other crypto-related assets.
Trump Cabinet Members Hold Bitcoin Amid Rising Crypto Influence in Washington
According to Fortune, notable officials who own crypto assets include:
- Health and Human Services Secretary Robert Kennedy Jr. – Has $1 million to $5 million in assets in a Fidelity Bitcoin ETF.
- Office of Management and Budget Director Russell Vought – Holds $1,001 to $15,000 worth of Bitcoin in a Coinbase wallet that he plans to divest.
- Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard – Holds $15,001 to $50,000 in Bitcoin and an additional $15,001 to $50,000 in Bitcoin in the Bitwise Bitcoin ETF trust.
- Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth – Owns between $15,001 and $50,000 worth of Bitcoin.
- Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent – Holds $250,001 to $500,000 in an iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF, but must divest it within 90 days of approval under ethical agreements.
- Transport Secretary Sean Duffy – Holds $250,001 to $500,000 in Bitcoin, the same amount in a Gemini wallet and another $50,001 to $100,000 in the Fidelity Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund.
The announcement comes as crypto’s influence in Washington expands. Abra CEO Bill Barhydt noted that the crypto industry has invested millions in support of Trump’s reelection bid and pro-crypto lawmakers, with crypto firms contributing to Trump’s inaugural events.
Barhydt also noted that under the Trump administration, the SEC has dropped multiple crypto cases and clearer regulatory frameworks may soon emerge.
As crypto adoption reaches the highest levels of government, investors and regulators are watching to see how the Trump administration will shape digital asset policies in the coming years.
